The Spice of Life: An Ode to Dave’s Hot Chicken

When we think of “Dave's Hot Chicken,” the word ‘exceptional’ instantly springs to mind. It’s a wonder that best friends Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy and Gary Rubenyan could take a simple $900 investment, a parking lot stand in East Hollywood, and create such a masterpiece of culinary indulgence.


Drawing from the knowledge of Thomas Keller’s training at French Laundry, Dave’s approach is singularly focused: make the chicken the star. The result? Chicken so juicy and tender, it defies description. The spice levels range from ‘No Spice’ to ‘The Reaper,’ catering to palates of all tolerances.


A spicy fried chicken sandwich from Dave’s is more than a meal, it’s an experience. Chick-fil-A might have their followers, but when it comes to sheer flavor and quality, Dave’s is leaps and bounds ahead. Plus, supporting Dave’s means supporting an organization that is far removed from the bigotry and hate that unfortunately permeates Chick-fil-A’s legacy.


Fast food may not be our usual fare, but Dave’s Hot Chicken isn’t your usual fast food. The crunchy, juicy chicken begs for another bite, time and time again. We order ours without the slaw, adding cheese for that extra bit of indulgence. Don’t pass on the side of fried cauliflower—it’s a treat not to be missed.


Despite being a delivery order, the food traveled exceptionally well. Arriving at our door, the meal felt just as fresh as if we were sitting at Dave’s.


Dave’s Hot Chicken has truly elevated the fast-food game and we wholeheartedly give it 4 out of 5 forks. Bravo, Dave! We’re complete fans and wish you all the success in the world. Global domination in the fried chicken sandwich competition is not only possible, it’s inevitable. Because, to be honest, we can’t imagine a better one.
